On February 16, 2017 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the first session of the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Bonn, Germany and delivered a speech on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, stressing that strengthening cooperation is the only choice to tackle the challenges in the area of development.
Wang Yi expressed that it is a common task for the international community to achieve development. We should make joint efforts to forge a peaceful and stable international environment and establish a new model of international relations with mutual benefit and win-win results as the core so as to foster a more favorable overall environment for world development. We should construct a world economy featuring innovation, interconnection, openness as well as inclusiveness, and continuously consolidate the foundation of global sustainable development. We should advocate the concept of shared development, strive to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor, and push forward the rebalance of the globalization process in a bid to let globalization unleash more positive effects. We should set up an international cooperation pattern which is led by the UN, with North-South cooperation as the main channel and South-South cooperation as a supplement, and establish a new model of global partnership for development so as to form concerted efforts for development.
The G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting held from February 16 to 17 was themed "Shaping the Global Order - Foreign Policy Beyond Crisis Management". The meeting was divided into two stages to mainly discuss the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, maintaining peace amid the complex world, partnerships towards Africa as well as other topics.
