H.E. Ambassador Hu Zhaoming Meets with H.E. Mr. Gari Cappelli, the Croatian Minister of the Tourism

On January 23rd, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Mr Hu Zhaoming met with the Croatian Minister of the Tourism, H.E. Mr. Gari Cappelli. The two sides exchanged their views on promoting the cooperation in tourism in 2018. The State Secretary of the Croatian Ministry of Tourism Mr. Frano Matušić and the newly appointed Political Counsellor of Chinese Embassy Mr. Li Xin and Commercial Counsellor Mr Liu Kai also attended the meeting.

H.E. Mr. Hu Zhaoming congratulated Croatia on its great success in 2017 in tourism and said that in the last year China-Croatia cooperation had maintained a strong momentum of development, the number of Chinese tourists to Croatia reached 160 000, which increased by 56.7% on a year-on-year basis. In 2018, the ''16+1'' high-level meeting for cooperation in tourism is to be held in Croatia; China and Croatia are going to launch joint police patrols during the tourist season; Croatia will also open up a tourist office in China. The two sides can also strengthen cooperation in establishing direct flights, health tourism of traditional Chinese medicine, tourism promotion and other aspects. The Chinese side is ready to work together with the Croatian side to make tourism cooperation a highlight of China-Croatia cooperation, further promoting the friendship and communication between the two peoples.

H.E. Mr Gari Cappelli said that tourism is Croatia's pillar industry, China is a big tourist country as well, Croatian government attaches great importance to tourism cooperation with China. The Croatian side will earnestly prepare for the ''16+1'' high-level tourism meeting and make it a success, and strive to open the tourist office in Shanghai in the coming June. The Minister expressed his belief that the bilateral cooperation in tourism in 2018 would achieve more plentiful fruits.
