On March 14th, H.E.Mr. Hu Zhaoming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, paid a visit to Mr. Gordan Bakota, Assistant Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Head of the Directorate for Political Affairs.
Ambassador Hu thanked Mr. Gordan Bakota for courtesies and considerate arrangements Croatian side rendered to him upon his arrival. He pointed out that the world was experiencing great changes-many ideas were being updated and relations between countries were also re-defining. After the period of 25 years, against this background, China-Croatia relationship comes to the 25th anniversary, entering the season of harvest as well as the time of reaching a new and higher level. The Chinese side is willing to join hands with Croatian to build a new landscape of bilateral relations in order to bring more benefits for the people of the two countries.
Ambassador Hu expressed high appreciation of Chinese side to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Ms. Martina Dalic for her acceptance of invitation to participate the first "Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation" to be held in May in Beijing. He pointed out that the "Belt and Road" construction was initiated by China, but would be carried out by countries along the route following principles of wide consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits. Croatia is the hometown of Marco Polo and has a special historic linkage with "Belt and Road" Initiative. He hopes that Croatian side will actively participate in the great journey of "Belt and Road" construction, pushing forward cooperation in economic and trade as well as people-to-people exchange on this platform.
Mr. Gordan Bakota welcomed Ambassador Hu for assuming this important position in the year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Croatia. He concurred with Ambassador Hu on the assessment of overall situation and perspective of Croatia-China relationship. He expressed the willingness of Croatian side to work together with the Chinese side to fully utilize new platforms such as "Belt and Road" initiative, "16+1" cooperation as well as "Three Seas Cooperation" to promote Croatia-China relations to a new height. They also exchanged views on the forthcoming events and arrangements to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between the two countries.
