On March 29, a plane carrying Chinese medical supplies purchased by the Croatian Government from China successfully arrived in Zagreb Franjo Tudman International Airport. Chinese aid of medical products will soon follow. Chinese Ambassador H.E.Mme Xu Erwen and Mr. Petesic, Head of Croatian Prime Minister’s Office received the plane at the airport, accompanied by Mr. Liu Kai, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Embassy.
Ambassador Xu said that after the outbreak of the epidemic in China, Croatian Government and People gave us firm support in the first time. Currently, the COVID-19 epidemic is spreading in Croatia. As Premier Li Keqiang talked with Prime Minister Plenkovic on March 27, China is ready to actively share its experiences in prevention, control and treatment of the epidemic with Croatia, provide assistance in medical supplies within our capacity and strengthen international cooperation in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic at the EU level. China will always stay with the Croatian Government and People to overcome the current difficulties until the final victory achieved.
Mr. Petesic said that since the friendly and successful phone conversation between Prime Minister Plenkovic and Premier Li Keqiang on March 27, China has offered help and strongly supported and assisted us in purchasing epidemic prevention supplies and equipment from China. The arrival of the first batch of supplies today will play a crucial role in Croatia’s epidemic prevention work, which is deeply appreciated by our side. Croatia and China enjoy a long history of friendship, our cooperation in epidemic prevention is at the forefront. We are confident that we will overcome the epidemic together and achieve more practical results later in our cooperation.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, China Jiangsu Province, Hainan Province, Shanghai as well as Chinese companies such as Huawei, CRBC, NORINCO have assisted Croatia in various ways.
