On March 26th, the Croatian State Commission for Supervision of Public Procurement Procedures announced the dismissal of the appeal against the Chinese company which won the bid for Pelješac bridge construction project. The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Croatia published the following article in Croatian media:
Chinese side welcomes the decision of the Croatian State Commission for Supervision of Public Procurement Procedures to uphold the decision that Chinese company wins the bid for Peljesac bridge construction.
This decision is not only of great importance to Croatia, but also a milestone in the process of cooperation between China and Croatia. The Croatian government supporting Chinese company to undertake the Pelješac bridge project shows its trust in Chinese company's ability and standards in building bridges, sending a positive signal of welcoming more Chinese companies to invest in Croatia and establish businesses here. We believe that this project will help deepen the political mutual trust between the two countries, strengthen the synergy between the development strategies of the two countries, expand the cooperation in economy, trade and other fields and promote China-Croatia relations to a new high.
Pelješac bridge project is the biggest cooperation project between China and Croatia at present. Chinese Embassy in Croatia will encourage Chinese company to actively engage Croatian companies in the construction of the bridge, maximally employ local labour force, share the technology and experience of bridge construction with Croatia, complete the construction in due time and make this project a model of China-Croatia cooperation.
