H.E. Mr. Hu Zhaoming Visits Osijek-Baranja County

On 1st and 2nd July, H.E. Mr. Hu Zhaoming, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Croatia, visited eastern part of Croatia, Osijek-Baranja County. During his visit, Ambassador Hu Zhaoming, respectively met with the Prefect of Osijek-Baranja County, Mr Ivan Anušić and Mayor of the County's capital Osijek, Mr. Ivan Vrkić. Ambassador Hu also paid a visit to SOS Child Village Ladimirevci and the winery Erdut.

In the meeting with Mr. Anušić and Mr. Vrkić, Ambassador Hu Zhaomin said that this was his first time in 4 months since taking up the post as Chinese Ambassador in Croatia to make an official visit outside of Zagreb. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Croatia and China and the two countries are now standing on the new starting point and facing unique opportunity for the development. The development of China-Croatia relations needs comprehensive support from all the regions and all aspects, including the eastern part of Croatia. The Eastern part of Croatia is not only beautiful but also has a great potential for development. It has good conditions for the development of re-industrialization and e-commerce. Ambassador Hu Zhaoming hoped that Osijek-Baranja County and City of Osijek could make good use of the two platforms of ''One Belt and One Road'' Initiative and ''16+1'' cooperation, as well as regional, business and civil cooperation channels to strengthen the cooperation with China in construction of industrial parks, e-commerce, food processing, culture, education etc. to further enrich China-Croatia relations.

Mr. Anušić and Mr. Vrkić expressed their gratitude to Ambassador Hu for actively promoting the cooperation of between China and Osijek-Baranja County and its towns and spoke highly of the Ambassador's practical cooperation suggestions. They said that although eastern part of Croatia was relatively undeveloped, but it had great potential and bright future prospects. China's focus on the eastern part of Croatia reflected the strategic vision of a big country. Although Croatia is a member of EU, Croatian side hopes to strengthen the cooperation with China and other major world economies in various field so as to bring impetus for the county and its towns.

While visiting the SOS Children's Village, Ambassador Hu talked with the director of the Village, Mr. Zoran Relić and the employees, gained insight into the development and work situation of the Village, introduced the great importance and investment that Chinese government placed in the children's welfare and made specific suggestions on cooperation between the two sides. Meanwhile, Ambassador Hu closely interacted with children. Besides that, the accompanying representatives of Community of overseas Chinese in Croatia donated 40,000 Kuna worth of daily necessities to the Village.

 

 

During the visit to Erdut winery, Ambassador Hu got to know the winery and wine production in Croatia. He encouraged the winery to promote its wines to China and thus increase their popularity and export.
